On Friday evening the U13s and U14s boys got together at the club for their first awards evening as Juniors. About 40 lads turned up along with plenty of family supporters who filled the clubhouse for 3 hours of fun, food and trophies. A huge thank you to George (and roped in helpers) who manned the bar, and all the parents who bought along about 3 tonnes of food. All the lads were asked to wear a silly hat and some parents joined in too which all added to the atmosphere.
The evening started with some games just to get the kids more exited and loud then they already were. The games and large trophy was won by a very happy team of u13s.
The games were followed by the awards. David Green (Chairman) and Steve Allen (1st XV Captain) were on hand to present these aptly in front of The Past, The Present and The Future wall. David pointed out that one of the trophies being awarded had been won by Steve when he was an U13 to show how important our current crop of young players will be to the future of the club in years to come. There were plenty of other names of note on the trophies including U14's coach Dan Mangham.
U13's Award winners were: Ashton, Zack and Tiernan
Winners of the U14's Awards were: Ollie D, Henry, Warren and Morgan
There were also gifts very generously awarded by the parents to both teams set of coaches. We all thank you loads for your gifts and your support. It is our pleasure (most of the time) to coach your lads who are all growing up to be brilliant young men and rugby players.
After a Q&A with Steve where the lads found out his best coach, the different positions he has played and what advice he'd give his younger self, it was time for food.
The evening ended as the sun set on a wonderful occasion. Thank you to everyone who helped out, especially those who helped us tidy up at the end to leave the clubhouse looking as if no one had been there (somehow). Sean Talma made a great Freddie Mercury on the hoover. Its a shame the camera's were away at this point. On the subject of camera's, another huge thankyou to Hilary Talma for the excellent photos.
