In the picture we see Tom Rusdale, who plays for The Paviors Academy, eagerly at work strimming around the perimeter of the pitches. His Mum Jan, our Academy Manager , is beavering away with her paint brushes sprucing the place up. Meanwhile Roni, our Grounds Officer, referee and supporter of the Academy effort, is on the mower tending his pitches. A great example of the ‘Family Club Ethos’, of which we are so proud, on full throttle.

Our annual clean up day, ‘The Nat West Rugby Force Weekend’ has fallen victim to the current lockdown requirements. We had qualified for the grant of £500 and the hope is it will happen later this year.

In the meantime there is nothing to stop us, while strictly observing social distancing and keeping in family/household only groups doing a few jobs. Just as the Rusdale’s are already doing.

The Club will provide the appropriate PPE.

So starting with downstairs the plan is for a family to ‘Adopt a Room’ and scrub it up, cleaning, painting etc where required. We have 8 changing rooms, a kit room, 3 toilets, the entrance hallway and stairs. So a family/same household can pick a room and a couple of dates to do the work and we will organise a rota so no one else will be up there other than a key holder observing safe distancing which is currently allowed. No equipment will be shared between families. You will have the ground to yourself so plenty of space for the youngsters to play safely in the fresh air.

We will strictly observe all the current lockdown regulations.

We fully understand that not everyone is in a family/household group but you will get a chance to contribute as lockdown restrictions ease.

Rest assured that now and when that happens we will never put anyone at risk.

When we do resume playing we need to make sure we are ready and the Club is in as good a condition as it can be and this will help.

Each family who pitches in will be invited as a special guest to a First XV home game once we resume playing.

Other work is all ready being carried out to make sure we are quick out of the blocks when we get the go ahead.

There is always plenty of other jobs that need completing so if you have specific skills or interests and have spotted something you could help improve let me know please.
