Paviors Hosted Gedling Schools Yr 5 & 6 Tag Rugby Festival - REPORT
So on a sunny Wednesday afternoon last week (9th October), Paviors played host to the Gedling Schools Yr 5 & 6 Tag Rugby Festival.
Ten schools arrived to compete. To be greeted by our beautifully prepared ground (kudos to Roni Rusdale: our Groundsman), a clutch of Paviors volunteers to greet, host, officiate and muck in generally. We also welcomed a huge bonus in the sunshine!
The afternoon’s sport began with the Schools split into two pools of five, playing on four pitches. Kick off was 1pm. The group matches played out very nicely until we had our Semi Finalists; Carlton Juniors and Arnold View Primary (Coached by our very own Andy Carey from U12’s!) from Pool A and Burton Joyce Primary and Arnold Mill Primary from Pool B. Pool A going to count back on scores as the results were tied for second place.
The final ensued between Burton Joyce and Arnold Mill and after a very competitive match, Burton Joyce Primary played out the eventual winners. WELL DONE! A little Paviors pride here as their trophy was collected by a certain Master Noah Eggleshaw! We wish you the best of luck in the Final.
What a great afternoon’s Rugby! All the Paviors officials commented how much the Rugby improved as the afternoon progressed and how receptive the children were to their coaching advice!
The afternoon ran like a well oiled machine thanks to our volunteers and Terri Elliott, the School Games Organiser.
A big thank you to Paviors: Mark Bailey, Bob & Sue Chalkley, Boyd Elliott, Sue Laplanche, Roni Rusdale and Jane Slater for giving up your afternoon to support this event. We kept the players, teachers and spectators refreshed well, officiated perfectly and overall they all left Happy by 3pm to return to their respective schools! A job well done and a great advert for our club.
