The current abridged season saw unprecedented weather with huge amounts of rain often swamping the pitches. Our natural drainage is fantastic but for once nature got the better of us and at least 3 playing sessions had to be cancelled along with numerous training evenings affecting all the Club.

 WELL LOOK AT IT NOW

and that’s before we do our essential spring grass over seeding to improve the grass coverage. At Paviors we think we have one of the best settings going for a rugby club and certainly it would be hard to disagree based on this photograph.

Lockdown or not there is still essential work and checks to be done at Club and we are grateful that Ken James, a Director of the Sports Club, does a weekly health check including all the necessary testing of the water supply and alarms. Our farmer neighbours, Julia and Richard Blant along with their son Simon walk the ground everyday to check all is well and we are grateful to them. Relationships there have never been better and is a testimony to the work we have done and continue to do together with them and our other neighbours to achieve a community spirit in and around our environs.

As you can see the pitch looks splendid and we are indebted to Howard Marshall, whose son Edward plays for our ever improving Under 13’s, of Howard Marshall Engineering who at no cost has carried out some essential aeriation throughout the season and the benefits are plain to see. The regular mowing essential to promote good healthygrowth is being well managed by Simon Blant from the farm and Roni has the grass seed on site and it will go down once there is some moisture in the ground.

Just a reminder that the ground is currently closed to everyone not involved in essential work up there.

Other activity on the ground is that just before the lockdown we had a topographical survey completed, an essential part of the design and planning phase of the 2022 Legacy Project. The architect is now preparing the planning application drawings.

The  latest edition of ‘In Touch’, the Club Newsletter will be with you soon to keep you up to speed on current events and some memories.

Please stay safe and hopefully we can all get together up there soon.
