Many 'senior' club stalwarts will remember Dr Peter Pavier, who's death at his home in Dorset has been recently announced. A practising G.P. in Arnold, Peter lived in Woodthorpe for many years.
Peter represented England Under 19's as a full-back, the club at both rugby and cricket and, then graduating from the school side to play full-back for the First XV. He captained Old Paviors Cricket X1 for a number of seasons.
John Pallant recalls dislocating his elbow in a match and Peter treating him on the pitch. Peter asked John if it was best to reduce the pain as quickly as possible, or would he rather go off to hospital?? Ron Rossin then called to John and as he turned my head away from Peter, he clicked it back into place !!!
OOOWWWW!!
This was a cute trick the two of them had used for years apparently !! It was pretty painful at the time, but less so than allowing the swelling to develop on the way to hospital.
Our sincere condolences go to Peter's family.
