Paviors RFC.

Paviors Culture.
First of all WELCOME!
Paviors RFC prides itself in being a well run family club. It upholds the true ethos and the best practises of the game of rugby union and as such is a Beacon Club for the RFU. The codes and laws of the game are strictly adhered to as we believe rugby is not just a game but a way of life.

Paviors RFC is a family club. Girlfriends, wives and children are made to feel most welcome. It is something for the whole family to get involved with. So whether you are male, female have children, just want to socialise or find out a bit more about rugby come up and meet us.

Seniors.
Paviors tries to accommodate all players both good and bad. If you are a Superstar destined for international honours, we will support you in every way possible to achieve your potential and to fulfil your dreams. However at the other end of the scale our 3rd XV regularly gives parents of mini and junior players their very first rugby playing experience. If you are incredibly bad we may laugh, but hopefully more often than not it will be with you, rather than at you.

Last season the 1st XV were the highest ranked junior Nottinghamshire Rugby Club in the national leagues and qualified for the final of the Nottinghamshire knock-out cup. The 2nd XV won their Pennant league and qualified for the final of their own respective cup. With the Colts winning the Nottinghamshire cup (for the fourth year in succession) there had been the possibility at one stage late in the season, of a "clean sweep" of all available Nottinghamshire senior trophies and leagues.

The 3rd XV which has traditionally been the fun side of the club, embraces all players both young and old, experienced and inexperienced, regularly socialising with each other in traditional rugby style. The club is optimistic next year of creating a 4th team as numbers continue to increase.

The club also runs from time to time a further team; "The Prodigals" for ex  Paviors currently at university or college, who can come back during the season to meet up again with old friends and play in a local match.

Senior Club training is every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.30 p.m (arrive 7.00 p.m) until 8.45 p.m. from the first week in June until the end of April.Senior training is not just for 1st XV players but for all the senior club. Several 3rdXV players take part for both the fitness and the social. We encourage all our senior youth and students to be involved with senior training.

Senior membership costs £45 for the whole season with a £6 match tax per game. 1st XV players do not play match tax as this is met by sponsorship. For the last two seasons Paviors has achieved 100% membership and this standard will not be compromised. If match tax is not kept up to date then players will not be selected. so we all know the rules by which we play at Paviors RFC.

New players membership is due after an introductory month so you get time to try the Paviors experience to see if it is the right one for you. However if the payment of membership and match tax creates difficulties for you please come and talk to us.

Senior Youth and Students.
Paviors runs a Senior Youth Academy for players over 16 and under 19 on Sept 1st this year. The Colts have won the Nottinghamshire cup for the last 4 seasons and regularly target reaching the finals of the NLD knockout cup. Last year they lost only once narrowly in the NLD final.

In line with the RFU Continuum, all players reachine the age of 17 will be encouraged to play senior rugby on Saturdays if we believe thaey are able to cope with it. This is carefully monitored and managed by the club to avoid a premature introduction or the over-playing of players. We will not allow senior youth players to play two full games on consecutive days. This policy works. Last year we had eight Colts who were regular first choice 1st XV players.

Students from local colleges and universities are always welcome at Paviors RFC. If you need help with transport just ask. If there are enough of you we will organise your own bus for both training and match days.

Membership of the club is £45 (£20 students) and that’s it for the year. There is no match tax for either senior of senior youth matches.

New Players
  • No longer play rugby…. but want to?
  • Remember the buzz… and miss it?
  • Never played but are interested?
Well come on down, as Paviors RFC are part of the RFU's Go PLAY Rugby campaign.

We want as many new players as we can to join the club as the campaign is set to remind former players what rugby offers, what they are missing and how they can get back to playing the game.

We are looking for those who have "played but lapsed" due to other pressures of family life and work commitments and those who would like to try the game for the first time!

As part of the nationwide advertising campaign video links from the dedicated GO PLAY RUGBY website are below and you can see an interview with Rob Andrew and a promotional item to wet the appetite for those who have “played but strayed” and are looking for a place to renew their acquaintances with the game and like minded players.
