WELCOME
For all those of you new to Paviors RFC I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce the U10s coaching staff. As for the rest of
you who are returning for the new season - Welcome back!
We are Paul, Mark, Rob and of course myself Camille.
My role is to ensure that you, the parents, are kept up to date with
all that happens at the club throughout the season and will be your
point of contact if you have any problems.
U10s RUGBY
Rugby at this age group is full contact, but it does have certain
restrictions. For example, three player contested scrums, two
player contested lineout and no
kicking the ball. We do have tackling, rucks and mauls. To play for the
U10s your child must be 9 before 1st September 2007.
The team consists of 9 children and the game is from 6 to 15 minutes
each way. Match days will usually include two visiting teams and are
played as a triangular fixture. This means that we will play at least
two matches.
If you do not know the laws of U10s rugby, or even if you think you do, I encourage you to read the following document on the RFU site. Here is a simplified version with pictures.
MEMBERSHIP/ SUBSCRIPTIONS
To play or train, your child must be a member of Paviors RFC and have
therefore paid their Club Subscriptions. The membership fee is taken at
the beginning of the season, and we do not take weekly subs like other
sports.
We have a sliding scale to help families with more than one child
wishing to join. The first child is £45.00 the second is
£20.00 and the third and subsequent children £5.00 each.
This may sound like a lot of money, but in truth it's around
£1:40 per week as the playing season is 32 weeks long. This
entitles the member to use the club facilities, apply for tickets
for England games and, more importantly, provides insurance.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Players training Kit should consist of layers of clothing that can be
put on/taken off as the child gets colder/warmer. It is also important
that in wet weather the children have adequate waterproof clothing. A
warm dry child will enjoy training a lot more than a cold wet one.
Rugby or football boots must be worn and have rugby studs, which are
available in the Club Shop. The studs cannot be burred or sharp. PLEASE
NOTE: DO NOT buy blade type boots.
The
RFU strongly recommends the wearing of mouth guards (ideally custom
made from a dental impression of the teeth) in case of accidental
collision as well as shin guards. Football shin guards are NOT suitable.
When the weather gets wetter, your child will get muddier, so some
weatherproof trousers and changes of clothes after the session are a
must.
For match days a team jersey will be provided and we would like all
players to wear navy shorts and Paviors socks. They can play in dark
tracksuit bottoms if the weather is colder, but not with zips. Always
ensure your child has adequate clothing for the times they are not
involved in the match and you are there to change them.
I am aware that some parents have other children training/playing at
Paviors and this can put a strain on loyalties. I do feel it is
important with our children that they receive plenty of praise and
encouragement from the sidelines both during and after our sessions.
It is important that you provide a drink for your child in training or
games. We will provide some bottles of water of course and encourage
everyone (including coaches) to drink at regular intervals.
START OF TRAINING
The session will start at 10:00 AM PROMPT, including away games. Be
there early, not only to get a parking place, but also to meet the
coaches and manager to discuss any issues and tell us where you will be
if you are temporarily leaving your child. It also gives us the
opportunity to tell you when to collect the children - we are not a
child minding service!
END OF TRAINING
It is important that you remember that we do not train as long as the
older children. Towards the end of the session, usually 11:45am, parents
need to be there to collect their child.
