Referees Course (28-4-07)
I now have confirmed dates for the referee's course .
  • Sunday 8th July 2007    &    Sunday 15th July 2007    (usually start 9am finish 4pm)
The course will be the new ELRA course (Entry Level Referee's Award Stage 1 & 2). It will also include the Mini/Midi Referee's award which is an additional part to the course.Earlier this year 6 members of the club secured the award for level 1&2 and have refereed several games at the club. This has been a great benefit to us and another seven qualified refs would be a further step in the right direction. The course is heavily class room based, open to all and very enjoyable, (discussing rugby situations and the game in general with other members of the course.).

Can anyone who is interested in doing the course,  contact  me with Name and Contact number ken.james@cornerhouse-nottm.co.uk . The cut off will have to be Friday 11th May so that I can inform the Course Coordinator on numbers. We need a minimum of 7.

If somebody could also get their hands on a projector for the evening that would also be very useful. If not I will need to revert to my old "torch and finger puppet mime routine"

Tonight the colts will play Newark colts at Burntstump under floodlights. This is only trhe second floodlit game to ever be played at the Ron Rossin Ground. To date this season the colts are un beaten having won 9 out of their 9 matches although this will be a final top of the table clash with Newark in the league prior to qualification for the NLD semi finals on the 18th of March.
2006/7 has already been an exceptional season for the Colts. Seven members of the squad are regualrly selected in the 1st XV on a weekly basis so this is your opportunity to have a look at what Paviors Junior secteion is delivering. Kick-off is 7.30 p.m and it would be a shame if you missed this opportunity to see what is cooking at Paviors RFC.

Dermody re-signs.(1-3-07).

Paviors battle to avoid relegation was given a huge boost with the news that Chris Dermody has rejoined the club for the remainder of the season - the announcement even more timely given that fly-half Danny Graney is again sidelined this weekend due to injury.  Dermody goes straight into the starting lineup for the game at Northampton Old Scouts.
Following on from his appearance at Twickenham for NLD in June, Chris made the step up to play national league rugby at the start of the season, and has started 15 games for Barking in National 2 this term.

Senior Club Match Tax Debtors.
Club records show that certain individuals have managed to avoid paying match tax. Match tax is an important  element of the financing of the club and offsets increases in annual subscriptions. I attach a list that details all outstanding payments this season. To ensure that these individuals continue to be available for senior selection could they please reconcile their amounts mith me as soon as possible.

Club Referees
Over the last two week-ends the following individuals have managed to qualify as stage two referees, Ken James, Phil Molyneux, Chris Wright, Richard Garden, Dale Baldry and Mark Britton. This means that they are now qualified to referee mini, midi, junior and senior rugby matches for the club.
This is a great asset to us as for too long we have relied on a valuable few to supply this service to us. It is now up to us to use these new referees so that they develop and maybe go on to qualify to level 3. They would then be eligible to referee matches for the NLD Referees Society.
I hope that you will all be very supportive in the coming weeks of all these individuals as they gain their experience on the field of play.I'm sure that all of them will welcome any opportunites that present themselves to gain the experience they require.
Should you also wish to take on the challenge of refereeing rugby matches please make contact with Ken James (
ken.james@cornerhouse-nottm.co.uk) who is hoping to run a course at Paviors RFC in the not too distant future.

Have you even fallen in Love with a Pig?
I know it is difficult to admit this in public but I know at some time or another we have all fallen in love with a pig. Fortunately for most of us it has been on a night that nobody could remember.
Unfortunately young Kane Nixon was recently awarded "Porky the Pig" after an impression of a dying swan during the game with Grimsby. Kane was perportedly injured and frightened the Colts physio in the process with his antics.
Having been told to look after Porky for a week and not to abuse her we feel he may have started taking things too far. He has already taken Miss Porky out for tea and a bacon cob and is becoming quite an item.

Hong Kong 10's Prizes
After careful consideration of all applicants the prize from Play More Sports has been awarded to Nathan Eggleshaw (1st XV Captain) and Andy Jacques (1st XV vice captain). We wish them well and hope they have a thoroughly enjoyable time. We would also like to thank all those who applied but were unsuccessful on this occasion.

Weekend review - 6/1/07

The first weekend of 2007 see's all three Pavs sides face tough league fixtures
as they resume after the Christmas break.  The 1st's have a home league fixture
against Loughborough Students, the 2nd's travel to Ashbourne for an away league
match, whilst the 3rd's entertain Belper 2nd's.  All games 2.15 k.o

Whilst no one will be expecting the 1st's to take any points from unbeaten
league leaders Loughborough Students, the game presents an ideal opportunity to
improve on a somewhat disappointing last couple of months in 2006, and lay a
marker down for what will be a crucial first few league games of 2007.

Pavs will be without captain Nathan Eggleshaw who is injured, and backs Jack
Birkett (unavailable), Jim Bradley (injured) and Karl Shakespere (unavailable)

The seconds travel to Ashbourne knowing that they will be in for a tough
encounter against an Ashbourne side that more than matched Pavs in the first
half of the league fixture at Burntstump earlier in the season.

Ashbourne have kindly offered to switch the game to Burntstump if the predicted
whether materialises and renders their pitches unplayable.

Finally, the third's entertain Belper as they look to improve on their
unpredictable 2006 form.  Always competitive in the forwards, the thirds back
division will be swelled by some of the.  The thirds will also take to the pitch
in a brand new strip thanks to the kindness of a couple of the clubs supporters.

Anyone players unsure of were they are playing should contact Will Oates on 0791
